Dimapur, December 9
It’s that time of year again in Nagaland when employees of government establishment won’t be seen in offices–not that they are famous for being regular in office any other time of the year anyhow.
Perhaps, as a pre-emptive strike to prevent government employees from doing the disappearing act, the administration of a district in Nagaland has warned employees of strict administrative action if they are not seen in office – or at least during an important celebration.
The deputy commissioner of Mokokchung district, Sushil Kumar Patel, issued a notice on Wednesday iterating strict attendance of all government employees. Attendance records will be taken during the inaugural function of Mokokchung town’s 125 years celebrations on December 12. Likewise, attendance would be marked on December 16 during a felicitation program at the Imkongmeren sports complex in Mokokchung town.
Patel instructed all heads of offices to attend the functions along with their staff members. The administrator made it clear that absentees would be viewed seriously and appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against them.
The deputy commissioner also requested officers and staff members to be seated at the venue 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the program.
