Mokokchung, June 14: It is high time for the commmunities of the state to chalk out real plans to provide unemployed youth with a livelihood. That the state of Nagaland can no loger provide for ‘government jobs,’ what the state needs is an actual plan toward a solution that would open employment avenues, the administrator of Mokokchung, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Kumar Patel, has stated
The annual school sports week of Senayangba Higher Secondary School in Ungma village under Mokokchung district got underway at the school’s campus on June 14.
The parliamentary secretary for Tourism C Apok Jamir who was consented to be the chief guest could not attend the function because of illness. However, in his absence, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Kumar Patel, inaugurated the sports week for the school.
In his address, Patel said that a school was not known for its building but for its students and what they gave for the school and how they performed in their academics. After schooling how much they contribute to the society matters, the district administrator told the school during the formal ceremony.
The deputy commissioner also reflected on the unemployment crisis being faced by the state of Nagaland. Patel said that the government cannot provide jobs to all the unemployed youths. He expressed doubt that the number of unemployed youths might rise to more than five lakh somewhere three or four years down the line.
In this connection, Patel said it was high time to chalk out plans which might provide sustenance to the unemployed youth. He opined that skill development was very important in this competitive era and might prove to be a plus point to make the youths resourceful for the state and the country.
The DC also stated that the youth will be resourceful for the state only when they are skill but if they are not skill enough then they will become liability for the state. He also urged the student to become resourceful for the state so that the country can progress ahead. “It is a time to decide wither you want to become a liability or resourceful,” Patel asked the students.
On sport context, Patel said sports is not about compilation of popup games but it gives many things such as efficiency to perform in study, personality, challenges and the spirit of sportsmanship. He also urged the students to maintained sportsmen spirit during the three days sports events.
Also, the principal of SGHSS, Lakhi Longkumer said school is a Sport Authority of India (SAI) Extension Centre and at present , there are twenty trainees in football with a scope of enrolling trainees even from other schools.
He also informed that academic performances of this concern year of HSLC and HSSLC board have been one of the best with four students scoring distinction in seven subjects.
The Senayangba Higher Secondary School was established in 1972 and at present altogether 234 students has been enrolled and 64 staff including teachers and ministerial staff. The institution provides for VII to XII (arts and science streams at secondary).
