The chill of December 18 evening could not dampened the spirit of Christmas Mokokchung because the tiny tots’ choirs of Mokokchung town warmed the town’s square with a mesmerizing Christmas carol performance bringing the ‘Christmassy’ air to the town.
This town’s most-eagerly awaited annual event, the 27th C5 (Children’s Christmas Cake Carol Competition), under the theme “Fit for the King,” organized by the youth department of Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo (MTBA) was held at the town square on Friday evening. The top prize for the competition was clinched by tiny tots from A&B (Sangtemla & Penli ) Fellowship.
The Children’s Choir of A&B (Sangtemla & Penli) Fellowship comprise of hundred and two members won the hearts of the judges by presenting -“Christmas Praise is in the Air”- and took away the trophy along with the biggest Cake of the event.
The first and second runners-up prizes were bagged by Kichutip and Tongdentsuyong fellowships respectively.
More than one thousand children aged between 4 to 12 years from the nine fellowships of the MTBA partook in the competition with fancy costumes and props bringing a memorable Christmas event to the people.
Mokokchung district’s Additional Superintendent of Police, T Yangrenthung Ngullie, was the guest of honor for the event.
In his brief speech, the police officer urged the people to continue the unique tradition of celebrating Christmas with the same spirit. He lauded the organizers for providing a platform for the children of the town to nurture the bond of fellowship and keeping Christmas alive in everyone’s heart.
Apart from the competition, there were special presentations from various artists including the United Christian Fellowship, Sungkomen Child Department and Ongpangkong Child Department. The judges for the evening were Toshi Sanglir, ABAM Youth Secretary, Bendangsunep, ABAM Youth Promoter and Supongsangla, Conductor of Refiners Choir, Ungma.
