
Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) in Kohima celebrated its 12th foundation-cum-cultural day as well as observed the ‘National Science Day’ at its premises on Saturday.
An update from the institute stated that Dr. Nishini Hekha, consultant of radiology at Zion Hospital, Dimapur, as well as teaching consultant at CIHSR and governing body member of MITE, graced the function as a special guest.
In his speech, Dr. Hekha shared his experience and advised the student-teachers to be careful in choosing the subject for specialisation. He mentioned that good relationships, values, and passion are important in life.
He further mentioned that hard work and commitment are important in a student’s life and advised them to strive for excellence.
It stated that the significance of foundation day was shared by its principal, Dr. Kate Dandesh Kumar. He mentioned that its founder, Late Dr. S Hekha Mao, had a vision of imparting high-quality education to student-teachers. He added that without his vision, mission, motto, and values, the institute would not have become of what it is today.
He also shared on the need to organise cultural day programmes and also observed the ‘National Science Day’ in educational institutions.
On the occasion, student-teachers presented various cultural items besides screening of documentary and discussion on the essence of cultural day and observing ‘National Science Day.’
