DIMAPUR — The Mission Shakti - Kohima District Level Committee meeting-cum-capacity building session was held at the DC Office, Kohima, on September 4. The session was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and chairman of BBBP (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao), B Henok Buchem, a DIPR report stated.
During the programme, Neipecha Mepfhuo, District Mission Co-ordinator, DHEW Kohima, delivered a presentation on gender sensitisation under BBBP.
She highlighted the importance of sensitisation, key themes, objectives of the scheme, role of stakeholders, survival and protection of the girl child, and the need to break gender stereotypes.

Vimenu Richa, Centre Administrator, Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) Kohima, spoke on gender-based violence and gave an overview of Sakhi-OSC.
She noted that violence against women could be physical, emotional, sexual, or economic, and cautioned that cyber violence has become increasingly prevalent.
She apprised the gathering on legal provisions related to violence against women, explained the role of Sakhi-OSC, and outlined the services provided, citing cases handled at the centre. She also emphasised how to guide distressed women to access OSC services.
Chairing the discussions, the deputy commissioner lauded the work executed at OSC. Buchem added that the tag of the safest city for women can be marred by a single incident and urged stakeholders to continue rendering their best services.
Committee members deliberated on the importance of sensitisation programmes in colleges and examined case-handling scenarios at OSC, including follow-up mechanisms after clients leave the centre.
