The long-awaited SAHO Memorial Hostel a mission project of Jakhama Baptist Church was inaugurated and dedicated by Rev. Zapovil Sophie Pastor Jakhama Baptist Church (JBC) today.
It is one of the private hostels for boys student of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama situated near Jakhama Local Ground, Kohima. The secretary of JBC Centenary Mission Project Kezhokhoto Savi said that the hostel is named after late Saho Sophie the first Christian convert from Jakhama village with a motto : “Knowledge Integrity Service”. It is a mission project in commemoration of the Centennial Celebration which was celebrated in 2005.
Kezhokhoto Savi, secretary, Centenary Mission Project, JBC in a statement said, the mission project has three main objectives to propagate the gospel to the unreached and to help the believers toward spiritual maturity, particularly to those people coming from outside to stay in Jakhama area as students or employees; to build fellowship house/church for the believers where they can conduct worship services, prayer meetings, etc. particularly those who are staying at Jakhama and to build decent hostel for students providing required facilities at reasonable rate, creating good study atmosphere and at the same time imbibe them the good news of Jesus Christ by trained theologian and nurture them to become a responsible person in the society.
The SAHO Memorial Hostel dedication programme was led by Ketholeho Kulnu, Chairman, Jakhama Baptist Church Board. The scripture portion was read by Bise Sophie Associate Pastor JBC, Rev. Dr. Mechiehol Savi has highlighted the Centenary Mission Project and Er. K. Thozo gave a report on construction. A special Choir number was presented by Youth Department of Jakhama Baptist Church and Christian Fellowship, Zhodi, Jakhama. The programme concluded with mass prayer and formal installation of warden and kitchen staff.
