Mission-2025: EM continues surprise visit to schools in KA

Diphu, Aug.17 (EMN): The Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAC), Education, Richard Tokbi paid a surprise visit to various schools in Howraghat on Wednesday, as part of the recently launched Mission-2025 campaign to improve the education system in Karbi Anglong.

During his visit to Ok-Kereng Higher Secondary School on Wednesday, he was informed that a teacher who has been teaching under the influence of alcohol has been suspended after giving several warnings.

With a total enrolment of 136 students, the school’s performance for this year’s matric examination was zero out of 22 appeared. Classes VI to IX have also been converted to English medium.

The principal incharge also highlighted the EM on various issues.

In Howraghat Borbil High School, the headmaster Ajit Basumatary told EM that few teachers post are still vacant while citing that the enrolment fo students are poor.

The headmaster said that the students enrolment have now increased from 70 to 116 after he visited house to house and insisted the parents to send their children to school.

Interestingly, the headmaster said that he admitted some students from his own income as many students are engaged in cultivation.

At Beloguri Higher Secondary School with 430 students, the EM noted the teachers who were not regular and said show cause notice may also be given if it continues.  He also found out that mid-day meal was not given regularly.

The EM also visited Beloguri Assamese LP School, Howraghat LP School and Adarsha Vidyalay under Samelangso Education Block.
