
JAC members and parents of missing youth with Ajay Kumar

- IMPHAL — The
parents of Manipur’s missing youth Luwangthem Mukesh and members of the joint
action committee (JAC) on Friday urged the Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla “to take
urgent steps to locate Mukesh and ensure his safe return.”
- The members of JAC along with Mukesh’ parents, called on the
governor at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, on Friday evening, according to Raj Bhavan
sources.
- “The Governor informed them that the government is making
all possible efforts to trace Luwangthem Mukesh and reunite him with his
family,” stated a press release issued by the Governor’s secretariat.
- Twenty-year-old Mukesh went missing after he went out in a
Maruti Alto car from his residence at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in Imphal West
District around 2pm on March 16. Since then his whereabouts is not known yet.
- “We have searched his whereabouts through our relatives and
near and dear ones but could not find out till date. He also possessed one
mobile phone when he went out,” stated a complaint note lodged by the family at
Imphal Police station.
- According to police sources, on receipt of the report, an
inquiry has been initiated. All out efforts are on to trace the missing person
by the Police department and security forces by launching search operations in
all suspected areas, the police had said.
- NCB officials meet governor
- Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Anurag
Garg, Deputy Director General (North Eastern Region), Monika Ashish Batra and
Additional Director, Prakash Ranjan Mishra, also called on the governor at Raj
Bhavan, on Friday. The officers provided a detailed briefing on the various
initiatives undertaken by the NCB to combat illicit drug trafficking in the
region.
