Four colleges from Kohima will witness the campus auditions for the upcoming Miss Nagaland 2017
Campus audition for Miss Nagaland 2017 is all set to kickoff for the district of Kohima in four colleges from August 12 onwards. This was informed by the officials of Beauty & Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) during a press conference held at Dream Cafe, Sers Bazar, Kohima this morning.
The campus audition will be held at Alder College on August 12; Sazolie College on August 21; St Joseph College, Jakhama on August 25 and Science College, Jotsoma on August 25. The eligibility criteria prescribed is that a contestant should be a bonafide citizen of Nagaland between the age of 18-25 years as on December 2017 with minimum of 5 feet 5 inches tall (without heels) and should be unmarried.
A member of the society, Meme Pucho said the campus audition for the pageant is first of its kind that aims to give opportunity to aspirant girls to partake at the Miss Nagaland 2017 scheduled to be held during the Hornbill Festival this year.
The campus audition will be followed by preliminary audition scheduled on September 6 at Ura Hotel, Kohima and the final open audition inclusive of contestants from all the districts of the state.
The society through the campus auditions desire to identify potential girls for the ultimate crown, where the winners will also be representing the state at the national and international level.
Keeping in mind ‘beauty with a purpose’ Lanutoshi Lemtur said the society is not only confined or focused on beauty but also endeavours towards humanitarian causes by contributing to the society through charity works at its own capacity.
At the same time, he informed that BASN has been coordinating with various modelling agencies both at the national and international to give a platform to aspiring models to get exposure and also achieve greater heights.
When asked on the future scope for the aspiring models, Former Miss Nagaland and Miss North East Tiarenla Jamir said the past contestants have been doing very well in the modelling industry for themselves who have represented the state at the North East, national and international platforms.
Jamir also informed that once the contestants are handpicked at the final open audition, they will be trained and groomed on various aspects till the main event of Miss Nagaland 2017.
Members present at the press conference were Lanutoshi Lemtur, Mele Pucho, Tiarenla, Neitho Khamo, Lipok Lemtur, Moanen Jamir and Lichan Humtsoe.
Beauty & Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN), a non-profit organisation officially registered in 1991 has been consistently hosting the Miss Nagaland beauty pageant for the last 25 years since its inception in the year 1989.
Based in Kohima, BASN jurisdiction is recognised and extended to all district units of Nagaland and has nurtured many young girls and promoted talents in the field of music and fashion by providing platform to gain confidence exposure and develop skills through different activities.
Jamir highlighted on some of the achievements of the past winners who have gone on to bring laurels to the State by winning prestigious events like Miss East India 1995 –Rachel Imchen; Miss North East 1998; Miss Luit 2002 and Sony My Miss India; Miss Elite 1st runner up 2005; Miss North East 2006; Miss Luit 2nd Runner up 2013; Miss India Elite 1st Runner up 2015, Miss Pan continental International Finalist 2015 and Miss Asia Pacific super talent India 2016; Miss North East Jewel Queen 2016 and Miss Queen East, Miss Queen of India 2016; Yamaha Fascino Femina Diva East Region winner and Get Gorgeous winner.
Two of its recent achievements: Kaheli Chophy who made it to the top 15 in the FBB Colours Femina Miss India and the reigning and 2nd runners up of Miss Nagaland Vilokali Zhimomi and Shenili Chishi have been selected for the Elite Model Look which is owned by Marc Robinson, a renowned and most sought after grooming expert and a beauty pageant and fashion director.
