Kohima, Feb. 10: Some unidentified miscreants planted a gas cylinder bomb which exploded at the under construction building of the home minister’s Y Patton private residence under the jurisdiction of Meriema village, Kohima, on February 9 around 11:30 pm.
According to Superintendent of Police Kohima, Joseph Hesso, who investigated the building on February 10 morning, said unidentified miscreants came on two light motor vehicles, fired two blank shots and reported to have shouted ‘whoever comes out will be shot.’ It was reported that seven workers were at the construction site at the time of the incident. However, no one came out to intercept them.
The miscreants burnt some tyres and exploded the gas cylinder inside the under construction building and later fled from the scene.
Talking to media persons, SP said the case has been registered under police station adding that investigation is on. When asked on what grounds the miscreants attacked the residence of the State home minister, SP Hesso said it was too early to give any statement about the suspect(s) and on the motive of the miscreants as investigation is on. He informed that an empty case of point 22 was found on the spot.
