TAMENGLONG, JUN 7
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Zeliangrong Baudi of Assam, Manipu and Nagaland (ZB-AMN) has condemned the indiscriminate firing into the residence of Panti Gonmei, a human rights activist, by some unidentified armed personnel at Langol Tarung, Imphal on Friday evening impacting panic and shock to the inmates including minor children, old aged devotees in the prayer room and patients.
The ZB (AMN) said the sudden attack made by the miscreants seemed to be a threat to stop the defence of human rights and the struggle for justice for the helpless victims of rapes, tortures, human trafficking, extra judicial killings and even racial discriminations and state apathy to the unfortunate people who are widowed untimely, etc.
“All the right thinking people of the region including more than 90 Zeliangrong villages settled in Imphal valley shall not spare the perpetrators of the crime seeking cover of ignorance to carry out evil deeds and soft targets to silence any one advocating helping the helpless victims,” it stated. The ZB-AMN then demanded the culprits should be booked immediately for justice or else they may be emboldened till they meet their own fate in the hands of some avengers which would be counterproductive and may create communal discord and disturbances in the state.
“The state apathy and the inaction of law enforcing agencies because of caste or political influence, riches and favourtism as in the case of mainland India should be held responsible for the crimes and the offenders to become so emboldened this far. The Zeliangrong Baudi and the Zeliangrong people in this region shall not remain silent spectators if such evils are allowed to continue their agenda at random,” it added.
