March 5 incident: 59 arrested till date
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is investigating into the March 5 incident in which an alleged rape accused was lynched by angry mob, has arrested 59 persons till date. The arrested persons are being booked for various offences in three police stations; East Police Station, West Police Station and Diphupar Police Stations. Police also informed that 6 persons out of the 32 photographs which were published in local newspapers have been arrested. The police are on constant look out to arrest the remaining; however, most of them are absconding, said police. Relating to the government decision to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), police informed that necessary communication has been initiated. However, there has been no response from the CBI, it said. The SIT will, till then, continue to investigate the case, it added. Police have also arrested 14 persons in connection with the March 4 vandalism at New Market and Hazi Park. 11 persons have been arrested by West Police Station while 3 persons were arrested by East Police Station, it said.

‘NPF printed as Naga National Front party in affidavits’
Noke led NPF has issued a statement today clarifying misconception that had been created due to the ‘typographical/clerical errors’ of the nomenclature of the party. The members and party president Noke Wangnao and legislature leader, G. Kaito Aye have already written to the Speaker submitting correction of the typographical/clerical errors in the affidavits. NPF Press & Media Cell said some typographical/clerical errors in the affidavits were made wherein the name of the Naga People’s Front was printed as Naga National Front party when the MLAs filed replies addressed to the Speaker in response to the petition filed for disqualification of elected members.
