KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 14: A minor child of two-and-half years reportedly started vomiting and hospitalised after consuming expired medicine sold by 'Save a Life', a leading pharmacy inside Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on September 13.
An FIR was registered by family members in this regard, and a case was registered against Mithun Bhowal, 28 years who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
When contacted, SDPO, Atu Zumvu said accordingly after the FIR was registered, the Pharmacy was sealed by the Police with the help of Judicial Magistrate at 3:30 pm, and the accused was arrested. On inspection of the medicine by the Drug Officer of Health & Family Welfare department, the medicine was found to be expired.
'Save a Life', a leading pharmacy inside Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), has been reportedly caught selling expired medicines on September 13. On receipt of complaint, the pharmacy was sealed, and the proprietor is under police custody.SDO Sadar, Kethosituo Sekhose when contacted said on receiving complaint and inspection of the drug store by the Police and Drug Inspectors some expired medicines were reportedly found during inspection. He said the drug store was cleared, and enquiry has been ordered.
Sekhose said the expired medicines were meant to be disposed off, which has been accidentally handed over to the minor’s family by an attendant at the pharmacy counter. He said as per the examination report, the pharmacy was unsealed today. Till the filing of this report, the minor’s condition is reportedly said to be stable.
