
Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN): Commemorating the National Tourism Day, India Tourism Guwahati, in collaboration with Pier Tours, Kohima, organised a felicitation programme in honour of Vezo Swüro of Chesezu village in Phek district on January 25.
Vezo was an associate of Subhash Chandra Bose and INA during the battle of Kohima in 1944 when they camped at Chesezu village. He personally assisted Bose and his people by taking them around Chesezu and nearby places, an update from Piers Tours stated. It added that the warrior village of Chesezu where Bose camped was believed to be one of the places where he was last seen.
The programme was chaired by Vesezo Ringa, while an invocation prayer was said by Thupushoyi Swüro, pastor of CBC. The keynote address was delivered by Nozuta Swuro, former MLA, and songs were presented by Kuthoveyi Nyekha and Povezo Nyekha as well as by Vekutalu and friends.
Speeches were delivered by the village council chairman Mulunuyi Khesoh, vice president of Nagaland Tourism and proprietor of Piers Tours Kejaroko Pier, and Muleyi Khesoh on behalf of Vezo's family.
It informed that Vezo Swüro was felicitated by Pier Tours and members of Nagaland Tourism Association representing India Tourism Guwahati with a citation and Naga warrior dresses.
The vote of thanks was pronounced by Vetacho Nienu, chairman of Conhat. It further stated that village leaders, family members and well-wishers including children of Vezo Swuro attended the programme.
