Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): A three-member committee from the Ministry of Home Affairs constituted to study the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) statehood demand issue is scheduled to meet the ENPO team today in Tuensang.
The meeting is expected to be held in the evening for around two hours. A day-long meeting is scheduled the next day (December 17) with the seven tribal bodies of eastern Nagaland, Eastern Naga Women’s Organisation and Eastern Naga Students’ Federation, the Gaon Buras, Dobashi, and senior citizens; while and a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, SP and state government officials is also scheduled.
The MHA team is scheduled to visit the International Trade Centre (ITC) DAN Pangsha on Dec.18 and leave for Kohima the same day.
After meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Dec.6 in Delhi, sources from tribal bodies and student organisations expressed optimism that the team will understand the situation of the people and the talk will bear fruit for their long demand.
“The team visiting the eastern Nagaland physically is encouraging as this will give them a clearer picture of our genuine demand and also make them understand why we have been demanding for Frontier Nagaland. It would have been an added advantage if the team could tour the six districts but we are glad the team is taking their time out to visit us,” a tribal body leader shared.
