Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): PWD Minister, Tongpang Ozukum accompanied by a few of his colleagues met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Transport Bhawan, New Delhi on Tue. July 17 and apprised the discussed a series of issues regard the development of the roads and bridges in the state.
A press release issued by the PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, New Delhi, Kuolie Mere, informed that Ozukum and his team discussed issues regarding the improvement and up-gradation of roads in the State which are in deplorable conditions. The Union Minister was also apprised about the urgent need for rehabilitation of old and weak bridges in the State.
Besides, the Union Minister was also reminded about the construction of ‘2 lane Trans-Nagaland Highway (Foothill Road)’ to be taken up on a phase manner which, according to the release, was ‘earlier apprised by the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Dy. Chief Minister Y Patton to the Prime Minister and the concern Minister in-charge of MoRTH’.
The release stated that the Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari after patiently hearing the grievances shared by the minister and his colleagues responded positively that the Union Ministry ‘is willing to extend all the help by strongly sounded/appealed that land should be available and there should not be any hindrance to developmental activities’.
In this regard, Gadkari advised that “acquisition of land should be the look out of the State Government”.
The PWD minister was accompanied by Minister Temjen Imna Along, Advisor H Khehovi Yepthomi and the PDA Chairman Chingwang Konyak, the release further stated.
