DIMAPUR — Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, inaugurated the upgrade of Sechu-Zubza PHC to CHC at Sechu-Zubza, Kohima on Friday.
In a press release, the District Health Society, Kohima, stated that the inaugural programme was held at the CHC premises.
In her address, the minister stated that the inauguration marks a significant milestone in the journey of healthcare development in the region.
Kruse, who represents 8-Western Angami assembly seat, expressed gratitude to the department for the upgrade of PHC to CHC which, she said, represents the government’s strong commitment to providing accessible quality health services to every citizen, especially those in rural and remote areas.
She also mentioned that health centre was established several decades ago to serve the basic medical needs for the community yet with growing population and expanded healthcare demands, it has become imperative to upgrade this facility so that it can provide a wider range of medical services and specialist care.

The minister called upon the villagers of the Western Angami region and CHC staff to take shared responsibility so the the centre can function efficiently for the wellbeing of all.
She also said that, the upgrade of the CHC is part of a larger vision under the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to strengthen health infrastructure across Nagaland by expanding healthcare access, improving service quality and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for medical care.
Kruse further urged everyone to trust and utilise government health services and join hands in safeguarding healthcare assets.
Earlier, the programme began with invocation prayer led by Letuo Neya, deacon of Pentecostal Church and a welcome address delivered by Dr. Petekuolie Yhome, Medical Officer, Sechu-Zubza. Short speeches were also delivered by Dr. Margaret Yhome, Director of H&FW; CMO Kohima Dr. N Leamnyei Konyak; and Imliakum Sanglir, SDO (C) Sechu.
The event was chaired by Meya Zhünyü, chairman of HCMC/JAS and vote of thanks proposed by Khriengulie Kuotsu.
