Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): The minister for Public Works department (PWD) Tongpang Ozukum is said to have noted that construction and repairs on a road in Peren district are ‘very slow.’ He is stated to have asked the engineers there to ‘show’ progress and make the work ‘visible.’
Ozukum visited Peren and Dimapur. In Dimapur, he visited the site of an ongoing construction of a Bailey Bridge at 4th Mile on May 3.
A DIPR update on Thursday informed that Ozukum visited Peren to inspect ongoing road repair works. Reportedly, he ‘encouraged’ the engineers there to ‘show’ good progress of the work.
Ozukum said that the progress of the work appeared ‘very slow’ and told the engineers to make the ‘work visible.’ He assured to visit Peren after a week to inspect their progress. The works were stated to have been delayed for a month.
In this regard, the minister has asked the executive engineer of the Peren division of roads and bridges to submit a detailed report within a week.
Next, the minister visited the office of the executive engineer (roads and bridges) at the new office complex of the deputy commissioner. He was stated to have held a meeting with the officers there. He inspected also a road leading to Peren Government College, the updates stated.
Later, the minister visited the office of the subdivision officer of the PWD at Jalukie where he held another meeting with the officers.
In Dimapur, Ozukum visited the ongoing construction work on a Bailey Bridge at 4th Mile on the same day. Dimapur’s division’s executive engineer, Talitemsu Jamir, who was at the site, informed that the construction would be completed in few days if weather conditions permit. He said that the public from nearby villages were ‘extending all possible support’ to the department.
