IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 28: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Anil Madhav Dave arrived here on a two-day visit to the state.
Soon after his arrival the union minister Anil Madhav called on the Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh at the latter’s office chamber in the afternoon.
The meeting was also attended by Manipur forest and environment minister I Hemochandra, senior forest officials.
The Minister was on a 3-day visit to Mizoram and Manipur from September 27-29, according to PIB sources. The visiting minister is scheduled to take part in a tree plantation session at the historic Kangle fort in Imphal on Thursday morning prior to his visit to the world’s only floating park-Keibul Lamjao National park which is the natural habitat of the rare deer Cervus Eldi Eldi popularly known as Sangai in local tongue.
The minister along with the state forest officials will also visit the Sangai view point besides meeting the self help groups, NGO leaders and media at the park before leaving Imphal for the national capital, sources added.
