- KOHIMA — Nagaland's
Minister for Women Resources Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse,
on Saturday stressed the need for value education, honesty, and integrity while
addressing the 75th anniversary of the Mezoma Students' Union (MSU) at Phehinu,
Mezoma.
- Kruse said that attaining 75 years of the MSU is a sign of
maturity and commended the union for reaching this milestone while
acknowledging God's faithfulness over the years.
- The milestone celebration should inspire the community to
progress further towards excellence, said Kruse, as she recalled the pioneers
and leaders of the MSU who nurtured and carried the union forward.
- She encouraged the students' union to aim higher. She urged
educated individuals to acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices of their
ancestors and leaders, emphasising that the establishment of unions, such as a
student body, was intended for the community's welfare and to enhance its
well-being. She also highlighted the significant progress and development that
Mezoma village has achieved as a result.
- The minister emphasised that students are the future of
society, and the efforts they put forth today will determine the path for
future generations to follow. She encouraged the students to be hard-working
and persistent, advising them to make thoughtful decisions during their student
years.
- Stating that every parent wishes for their children to be
good and successful in life, regardless of their backgrounds, she urged the
students to remember the sacrifices made by their parents. She encouraged them
to study diligently and work hard, noting that some parents were farmers and
business owners, in order to achieve success and contribute to the
transformation of society.
- Kruse said that regardless of advancements in science and
other technological developments, such as AI, the faithfulness of God would
remain steadfast. She reminded the students that, in life, value education is
more important than academic excellence, as one must uphold honesty and
integrity.
