Kohima, March 10 (EMN): Minister of PWD, Tongpang Ozukum, inspected the ongoing city road projects in the state capital Kohima on March 9 and complimented the contractors for completing the works on time.
Stating that it is the first time that the state PWD is constructing roads with such specifications, he called upon the contractors for timely and quality execution of works by strictly adhering to the specifications.
Expressing his concern on Billy Graham road and Kohima Science College road, he told the contractors and the department officials to expedite the work to ensure that the works are completed before the onset of monsoon.
The minister also inspected the Sonouru Bridge construction site and insisted that the river channel, mid pier, abutment should be completed before the onset of monsoon. He urged upon the department officials to constantly monitor and supervise the works being carried out to ensure quality and timely completion.
He was accompanied by SE - II PWD (R&B), EE SDOs and JEs from PWD (R&B), south division, Kohima.
It may be recalled that out of the ongoing improvement work of 26 roads in Kohima with total length of 49.9 km, six Kohima city roads have been completed. The completed roads are PHQ Junction to Hotel Cimorb via CM/ Speaker/ AR camp Old Ministers Hill, Mohankhola Junction to Lower AG waiting shed, Old NST bus station to New Market joining Tinpati road, NHAK to Tinpati Junction via Daklane and Naga Bazar, Old MLA hostel to AR camp via DC office and Razhu point to Ao Church via D Block (Jasokie road).
