Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): New minister for Higher and Technical Education Temjen Imna Along has asked the department’s employees from the director to the peon to undertake their assigned duties with ‘utmost dedication and sincerity’ in the interest of the public.
The minister said this at a reception that was conducted for him by the directorate of Higher and Technical Education on March 14 in Kohima.
Addressing the officers and staff, the minister said that the service of every employee beginning from the director down to the peon was indispensable for effective implementation of the government’s programmes and policies.
Saying that the job of every employee was the same whether it was the officers’ or the peons’, the minister urged them to work hard and give their best to their assigned duties.
Stressing on the vision of the chief minister to bring about changes in the society, Along opined that change will come from within an individual. In order to bring about changes, he said one must change oneself with sincerity, hard work, dedication and with integrity. He wanted the department to walk hand in hand with him and not behind nor ahead of him.
Along remarked that the government will not give salary to those employees, who are not working, unless a person is really sick and cannot attend office. In this regard, he said every employee should make a point to attend the office regularly and work sincerely.
Even in case of death/ marriages, the minister made it clear that a person should not attend all those functions unless it is an immediate family member as many days were wasted for such functions.
Stating that in the past many years, many government employees have neglected their duties and wasted enough time, he said it is now time to work hard and to recover all those wasted time and days.
Also imploring that talking about the past would not bring about anything, the minister urged the employees to start afresh with new beginning and bring about changes with hard work and sincerity.
In regard to fixed pay or casual employees, who have been serving the department for many years, the minister informed that their cases would be taken up for regularisation if he/she sincerely work and contributed towards the department.
The minister further urged upon all the employees starting from the director down to the peon to perform the assigned duty and walk the extra mile to achieve new heights.
The minister also stressed on the students’ enrolment to enhance from existing 650 to 2000 in the coming year. The minister also emphasised on pro activeness of the department in the usage of information technology. Stating that good things and changes are coming, the minister said that he would make an announced visit to the office from time to time.
