Minister advocates uplift of rural economy

Speaking at the 20th general session of the Chakhesang Gazetted Officers’ Association (CGOA) at SIRD auditorium hall in Kohima on November 23, Kronu asked the Chakhesang officers to focus on uplift of the village economy saying the society will not progress unless the village economy is improved. He also asked them to pay special attention on enhancement of the village economy. Narrating that the peaceful election is over, he said it was time to talk about development and progress for the next four years. While speaking on the abandoned SARDP two-lane road construction, he said all the major roads in Phek district will commence soon with the effort of the state government. He also stated that border road along Myanmar will be given special attention to help the state economy. Kekhwengulo Lea, president of the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) also addressed the event. In his speech, Lea urged the Chakhesang officers present to be sincere, committed and live upto their motto “Strive for excellence,” and further impressed upon the officers to strive and strengthen Chakhesang community. The president also urged the officers to pay attention to agriculture and allied sector to boost the rural economy. He further appreciated CGOA members who have agreed to donate two-day wages towards Chakhesang community building project in Dimapur. Zhothisa Dawhuo, in his presidential address, asked the officers to be proactive and generate creative idea in their work. He further challenged the officers to live up to the expectation of the people and join hands and move forward with truthfulness and dedicated their service in order to build the association and be instrumental for the well being and advancement of the society. During the event, the association elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2018-2020. The new team is led by Kuko Mero as president, Dr. Zavise Rume as vice president, Kekhriezuvi Lea as general secretary, Vekusheyi Rhakho as joint secretary, Bedukho Chiizho as publicity and information secretary, Velhusalii Naro as statistical secretary, and Keweko-ii Ritse as treasurer.
