DIMAPUR, JULY 25
THE ‘militarisation of Ulhrul town by deployment of huge Manipur police commandos and IRB and promulgation of Section 144 CrPC has disturbed the peace and tranquility of the town’, the Naga Hoho said in a release. The Hoho said it is deeply concerned over this standoff. “The Naga Hoho has been tirelessly working with utmost sincerity to bring peace and tranquility for the Naga people and we are against any form of violence and killing in our society,” the release said. The apex Naga body of elders has said the ‘warlike situation’ should be removed and that disturbing peace will not be in the interest of stakeholders. Peace, the release said, has slowly and gradually been returning in the Naga areas after the declaration of ceasefire with the GoI.
The Hoho sought that the governments of Manipur and the GoI pay attention to the situation so that ‘peace, tranquility and normalcy is restored in Ukhrul town in the interest of the peace loving people.
