MGM Higher Secondary School holds its Annual Sports and Games 2026 at DDSCA Stadium in Dimapur.
DIMAPUR — MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, held its Annual Sports and Games 2026 on the theme "Sportsmanship, Discipline & Team Spirit" at DDSCA Stadium, Golaghat Road, Dimapur, on October 23 and 24.
The inaugural session was attended by Deputy Rubber Production Commissioner of the Rubber Board, Dimapur, Kuruvila Cherian, as the guest of honour, according to a press release.
Addressing the gathering, Cherian encouraged students to participate wholeheartedly and give their best in every competition. He reminded them that winning is not everything, adding that participation, continuous improvement, confidence-building, and healthy competition are equally important aspects of sports.
He subsequently declared the Annual Sports and Games 2026 officially open.
In his presidential address, Vice President Shaiju Philip highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping students' character and preparing them to face life's challenges. He urged participants to embrace discipline as the foundation of success, demonstrate determination in every endeavour, and learn to accept victory with humility.
He added that true sportsmanship lies in respecting opponents and accepting both victory and defeat with grace and dignity.
The oath-taking ceremony was led by Sports Secretary Thejavile Pucho, and the main torch was lit by the guest of honour, the vice president, the principal, the headmaster, and the sports captain.
