DIMAPUR — MGM College, Dimapur, organised an
awareness session on environmental conservation and sustainability in its
college auditorium on January 18.
According to an update, the session, attended by students,
faculty, and eco club members, highlighted urgent environmental issues and
empowered participants to take meaningful action for a sustainable future.
The event was attended by Joachim Jack, programme
coordinator of Action for Protection of Environment in Northeast Indian Region
(APENIR), ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Don Bosco Campus,
Dimapur.
In his address, Jack called for action, urging students to
embrace environmental responsibility as a core value. He provided actionable
insights on sustainable practices, community engagement, and innovative
approaches to tackling environmental challenges, emphasising that every small
effort counts towards protecting our Mother Earth.
The session covered pressing topics such as waste
management, deforestation, climate change, and the critical role of youth in
driving environmental change.
Jack inspired the eco club members to lead from the front by
organising activities such as tree-planting campaigns, clean-up drives, and
awareness programmes within the community.
One of the members stated that the session was not just an
awareness event but a call to action. The member expressed feeling equipped and
motivated to contribute to a greener tomorrow.
The session concluded with a pledge by the attendees to take
concrete steps towards sustainability.
