Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): A water harvesting structure constructed by the Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMV) Mezoma and sponsored by Kohima Forest Division was inaugurated at Mezoma village on November 11.
An update from DIPR informed that the construction of the water harvesting structure is a part of water management component under the soil and moisture conservation programme of Kohima Forest Division.
“It was constructed to cater to the needs of the village nursery and the village community,” read the statement.
DFO Kohima, Rongsenlemla Imchen appreciated the efforts of the community in collaborating with the department in forest conservation and ranger Kohima Range Pezaneinuo highlighted the importance of water management and judicious plantation as well as the need to maintain economically-valued tree species.
The JFMC has also constructed a nursery during this season and has planted fruit-bearing saplings in and around the village, according to the update.
