Mokokchung, Sep. 3 (EMN): Attributing individualism and greed for materialistic benefit for the fragmentation and disunity in Naga society, minister of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, implored upon the Ao community to inculcate values of their forefathers in order to move forward as one in unity.
Speaking at the 21st general conference of the Ao Senden, an apex organisation of the Ao community, at Mokokchung Town Hall on Friday, Jamir said that the existence of the Ao Senden is a milestone achievement for unifying the people as one. In this regard, he appealed to the members not to tarnish the image of the Ao Senden.
Attributing fragmentation and disunity to individualism and materialism in the present context, Jamir reminded the members to acknowledge their forefathers for the blessings they are reaping now. He also called upon them to retrace their roots in order to move forward as one.
“Where there are good leaders, there is peace and prosperity. However, when there is a lack of leadership, the society is led into chaos and poverty,” he asserted.
He, therefore, urged the older people to help the future generation rekindle their connection with their roots before the future generation get lost track of their origin and identity in the unforeseeable future.
Meanwhile, the house reinstated all the incumbent officer bearers for the tenure of 2021-2023. The current office bearers of Ao Senden is led by its president Chubawati Longchar and secretary Imtipokyim.
