[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he cross has become a unique symbol for us because it symbolizes the redemption of mankind through it. The crucifixion , the resurrection and the ascension signifies the purpose of the sacrifice on the cross. We believers have some slight knowledge about the significance of it. But we don’t exactly know what it might have been like because of our ignorance of it.
In other words we wont know the extend of His suffering unless we suffer like Him. Only when you cut your finger you will know how real the pain is. But in all of these our acceptance of His Word keeps us secured from the curses that were bound to befall us.We are saved not because of what we are but because we chosed to believe. The assurance of salvation is what characterizes our Christian faith. Our lives are led by what our conscience makes us to believe. The unique thing about our belief is that it is based on the power of truth which is revealed through the prophecies of the past. The astonishing thing is that things are happening just as predicted. We believe because we see it happening.
But there are many who are out to humiliate us by questioning our belief. They won’t see as we do because they didn’t accept as we accepted. They put their trust in no man rather they ponder on the purpose of their existence. In view of this the mental state of such men and women is evidenced when Paul said “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but those who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
Such men will not know what it is because their minds are occupied by their own weird philosophical ideas. Their own arrogance will lead to their own destruction. The philosophers define faith as a futile form of expression. All that they do is scoff at our way of life.
Even in Jesus’ time the Jews and the Greeks rubbished the significance of the cross. The Jews fought for authority over the law while the gentiles mocked at the concept of it. The teachers of the law and the intellectuals were united in their denial of the existence of our sovereign God.
Sadly they made their own rules and created their own gods and emphasized more on their on concept of the origin of creation and on their own philosophy of life. What they don’t realize is that eternal punishment is reserved for them.
In their quest for authority, truth and knowledge they did the wrong thing and they believed in the wrong ideologies. It hurts to see them headed for destruction. They preferred to have it their way rather than God’s way. At the appointed time, they will realize how vain they were and how wrong they were in their denial of the existence of the Christ we believe in. in the end they may know the truth but they wont be saved by the truth because they received not the truth at the time of their physical existence here on earth.
Its pitiable but they will suffer terribly because of their unbelief. Many such among them had perished but there are still many amongst us who are also likely to [perish. The unsaved ones awaits their fate and the unrepentant ones will also join them if they repent not of their sins.
It is my desire. It is God’s desire to see you believe in the message of the cross and be alive in His righteousness. Your intellect will not save you but your belief in His Word will redeem you. The decision you make can either make or break your life. Stop digging your own graves and join us as we build the Church of Christ. Be part of us and we shall strive towards perfection till Christ is made complete in us. This is our desire. This is God’s desire. And the streets of gold will be our destiny if we walk towards it with the Word as our guide. This is the message. Believe it. Receive it. Accept it. The reward shall be yours.
