My Dear Countrymen!

On this historic day of the 79th Naga Independence Day, We give all glory and honour to our Almighty God for sustaining the Nagas through this arduous journey for by him alone we have come thus far and shall forge ahead till we achieve our goal. I extend my warm revolutionary greeting to all my compatriots and fellow Nagas.

We pay solemn tributes to all the brave sons and daughters of the soil for having stood the test of time and sacrificing their lives for our sacred cause. Their ultimate sacrifice will be forever etched in history and their martyrdom will continue to inspire our today.

We gather here today to reaffirm our commitment to exist as a sovereign Nation as solemnly pledged by our fore fathers, history has shown that the Nagas has existed as a sovereign nation since time immemorial and we were never subjected to any outside rule.

My dear brothers and sisters, the Naga Political Struggle as we know has traversed through a strenuous journey filled with trials and tribulations and I don’t see the need to elaborate more on that but all these has shaped the present political scenario.

Today, we are at the crossroad where our fight for the God given right to live as a free nation has turned into a struggle for survival and supremacy. While acknowledging the growing discontentment among the general populace as a consequence of discord and fractionalisation of Naga political parties which has resulted in the creation of multiple separate entities. Our struggle to safeguard the inherent right of the Nagas and champion its cause still remains resolute.

The NSCN will never betray the trust placed on us at all cost nor will it yield to the multiple wicked schemes conspired against the NSCN by our adversaries with sinister purpose to demoralise our people and undermine the very principle we stand for. Through these adversities, we have only emerged stronger and we will continue to defend the honor and virtue of the NSCN with unshakable commitment.

My dear comrades, the recent selflessness act of the NNPA in merging with the NNPG characterize our genuine approach to listen to the clarion call of the civil society organisations to unite and find a common ground so as to expedite for an early Naga political solution.

Let us be clear that as much as it is the duty of every Naga to defend our political history it is equally of paramount importance that we truly understand the current political context and collectively strive forward to resolve the Naga issue permanently. Our approach to this end should be pragmatic and realistic.

Lastly but not the least, I take this opportunity to thank various NGOs, CSOs, Church leaders, student bodies and all the stakeholders for their unwavering commitment and support. Let us reaffirm ourselves to serve the nation selflessly and with renewed dedication, let us humble ourselves before God and trust in his plan for only through God shall we emerge victorious.

God Bless Nagaland!
