- DIMAPUR — MLA and
chairman of the Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) Bhandari,
Achumbemo Kikon, inaugurated a 1.6 MVA (33/11 kV) substation at Merapani
village, Wokha, on Wednesday.
- According to a DIPR report, speaking at the inaugural
function, Kikon said that with the inauguration of the transformer, the
department will be able to provide a sufficient 24x7 uninterrupted power
supply, which will help young people to start businesses in various ways.

Achumbemo Kikon with department officials and others during
the inauguration of a 1.6 MVA (33/11 kV) substation at Merapani village, Wokha,
on Wednesday.
- He also appealed to the people to prevent power theft, make
timely payments of electricity bills, and initiate awareness programmes to
conserve electricity for the common good.
- The MLA thanked the Ministry of Power, commissioner
secretary, department officials, power grid, and field workers involved in the
timely completion of the work. He also expressed gratitude to the land donors
and the general public for their support and co-operation.
- EAC Bhandari Kilangtemsu emphasised the importance of
conserving energy when it is not required and paying bills on time. He urged
people to be responsible citizens.

- Kilangtemsu, while congratulating the Power department on its
achievement, also thanked the MLA for his initiative and assistance in
fulfilling the needs and requirements for the welfare of the people.
- Executive Engineer of Wokha Electrical Division, Chenosing
Kemp, while presenting the technical report, said that though it was a
departmental project, the initiative and assistance from MLA Kikon, department
officials, Merapani Village Council Chairman, Bhandari Town Council, Bhandari
Administration, and landowners all contributed to the successful installation and
construction of the 33 kV line from Bhandari Town (2.5 MVA substation) to
Merapani.
- The installation of the 1.6 MVA (33/11 kV) power transformer
substation at Merapani village will cover 21 villages. The total cost of the
proposed project has been estimated at INR 1,33,80,200.
