Merang Jamir has entered into history books becoming the first Naga International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Judge.
He passed out in the recently concluded ISSF “B” Judge’s Course for Rifle & Pistol under the Chief Instructor Aado Maranik from Sydney, Australia.
The ISSF “B” Judge’s Course was conducted by the Asansol Rifle Club, West Bengal under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India from April 8-13. His scored 98% in General Aspects, 85% in Technical Rules, 95% in Rifle and 88% in Pistol.
ISSF “B” Judge Licensee can be a Jury, Judge, Chief Range Officer or a Range officer in all the National and International Shooting Competitions/Championships including the World Cup.
It may be mentioned here that since 2010 Merang Jamir has been promoting modern shooting sport in the state through the Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting Academy located at NST Colony, Dimapur and has so far developed 5 National Shooters. He himself is a 50M Rifle Prone National Shooter and is ranked 59th position in the 35th National Games which was held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala in 2015.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has approved Nagaland Rifle Association headed by him to host the 4th North East Zone Shooting Championship, 2016 at Dimapur, Nagaland during September 2016. Nagaland Rifle Association. General Secretary Sentiyanger Pongen on behalf of the Nagaland Rifle Association in a message wished him all success.
