‘Melodious Lady of Wokha’ singing competition held in Wokha
The Wokha district administration, the Department of Social Welfare, and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women under Mission Shakti, in collaboration with TaFMA, organised a female solo singing competition titled "Melodious Lady of Wokha" at Tiyi Hall, Wokha

- DIMAPUR — The
Wokha district administration, the Department of Social Welfare, and the
District Hub for Empowerment of Women under Mission Shakti, in collaboration
with TaFMA, organised a female solo singing competition titled "Melodious
Lady of Wokha" at Tiyi Hall, Wokha, where the final event took place on
Monday.
- According to a DIPR report, in his keynote address, Wokha
Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar highlighted that the event was organised to
recognise and showcase the abundant talent within the district.
- He encouraged participants to focus on giving their best
performance rather than worrying about winning, emphasising that participation
itself is the most valuable aspect.
- The competition was divided into two categories: one for
participants under 18 years and another for those over 18 years.
- In the above-18 category, Merilo Y Tsopoe secured first
place, followed by Chumchano Ngullie in second and Eliyani Kokon in third. In
the below-18 category, Khonzani Ovung claimed first place, with Lochumbeni
Kokon taking second and Thungrhoni Ezung finishing third.
- The judging panel included Obed Kath, vocalist of Divine
Connection and winner of MTV Rock On 2011; David Ngullie, proprietor of Bravo
School of Music; Renchilo Lotha, singer and folk songwriter; and Emi Odyuo
Kithan, a piano and vocal instructor.
