Imphal, Aug. 25 (EMN): The state government has started consulting leaders and individuals from different sections of the society to seek their opinion on different issues.
This was informed by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh while speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the joint Meeyamgi Numit (People’s Day) and Hill Leaders’ Day at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Saturday.
Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day which were usually organised by the state government on 15 and 10 of every month since May last year to hear the grievances of the public was jointly organised on Saturday due to chief Minister's busy scheduled in the recent past.
Stating that the government will always take people’s wish into account in taking any final decision concerning state issues, Biren said the government is ever ready to convene the special session of assembly anytime if the need arises. He also said that the Central Government would consult the state government if any issue affects state’s interest.
He also recalled that a BJP Manipur Pradesh team had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in connection with the Naga Framework Agreement in the recent past.
Stating that the huge turnout on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day shows people’s confidence and trust in the new government; he said that the state government would put in best effort to live up to people’s expectations.
He also admitted that it is encouraging to see many youths and women turning up on these two days to seek support on entrepreneurship and self-employment from the government.
In the day’s joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day, the chief minister personally attended about 500 complaints and met around 1500 people from different parts of the state in five and half hours time till 2.15 pm.
