DIMAPUR — Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Kohima convened a meeting with representatives of political parties in Kohima.

According to an update, the meeting was held on Monday at the NIC conference hall, DC's office, Kohima, regarding the model code of conduct (MCC), election expenditure monitoring, and IT-related applications (SUVIDHA and cVIGIL).

ADC Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, chaired the meeting and informed the representatives of the political parties that there would be no shortcuts regarding election matters. He urged them to adhere to all necessary norms and the model code of conduct (MCC) as outlined by the Election Commission of India for the conduct of a free and fair election.

The nodal officer of the MCC, James Renbi, and the assistant election officer, Kohima, Olivi Thurr, elucidated the intricacies of the MCC, election expenditure monitoring, media certification, and defacement caused by flexes, posters, and other political advertisements.

J G Lorin, district informatics officer (DIO), provided detailed information about how to use the SUVIDHA app and requested that any required documents be submitted at least two days in advance (48 hours) and only in PDF format. Also, Samuel, senior programme officer, IT department, provided detailed information about the usage of cVIGIL app.
