DIMAPUR — A District Level Co-ordination Committee (DLCC) meeting for the 8th Economic Census was held on June 18 at the deputy commissioner's conference hall, Mokokchung.
Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, who chaired the meeting, emphasised the importance of DLCC members to provide all necessary logistics support for the census and stressed the need to create public awareness about the economic census.
District Economic & Statistics Officer Aoluen briefed the members about the importance of the 8th Economic Census, which will be conducted using advanced Information & Communication Technology (ICT).

The ICT system will enable geo-coded data collection via mobile devices, real-time validation, and interactive MIS dashboards for effective monitoring and supervision.
The official also highlighted that the 8th Economic Census aims to capture data on non-agricultural sector, specifically enterprises engaged in producing or distributing goods and services beyond personal consumption.
Exclusions include establishments engaged in crop production, plantation, public administration, defence, social security, and illegal activities.
Further, the meeting deliberated on the requirement for manpower, IT personnel, identification of master trainers, supervisor and enumerators for the 8th Economic Census in the district.
