Ruopfükuotuo Noudi chairing the district level coordination committee meeting on 8th economic census at the DC’s conference hall in Kohima on Tuesday.

  • DIMAPUR — A coordination meeting of the district level coordination committee for the 8th economic census (EC) was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kohima.

  • The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Kohima, Ruopfükuotuo Noudi, who chaired the meeting, highlighted the importance of deploying enumerators and supervisors for data collection and field supervision through an IT-based mobile application. He stressed the need for effective publicity via social media and emphasised the committee’s role in monitoring, providing feedback to the state committee and facilitating coordination and sensitisation at the district level.

  • A DIPR report stated that the district economics and statistics officer, Belho, provided an overview of the 8th economic census. She informed that the census would cover all establishments including household enterprises involved in the production or distribution of goods and services. She, however, informed that agricultural establishments engaged in crop production and plantations would be excluded.

  • She added that non-agricultural establishments related to public administration, defence, compulsory social security, domestic personnel employment, territorial organisation activities and illegal activities would not be covered.

  • Belho informed that the 8th economic census aims to provide comprehensive data on the operational and economic variables of non-agricultural establishments across various administrative levels—from national to village and ward levels. It would also update the directory of establishments and serve as a vital frame for future sample surveys.

  • Noting the history of economic censuses, she mentioned that economic censuses have been conducted since 1977, but the data from the 7th EC (2019–2021) could not be released due to various reasons.
