Medziphema United FC defeated Outlaws FC 3-0 to win the Rokonicha Champions Trophy 2026 in Chümoukedima on August 15.

DIMAPUR — Medziphema United FC defeated Outlaws FC 3-0 in the final match on August 15 to lift the Rokonicha Champions Trophy 2026 at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
Organised by the Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA), the tournament, which ran from July 25 to August 15, was part of the Chümoukedima District Football League 2026.
According to an update, Viskholie opened the scoring for Medziphema United FC in the 20th minute, followed by two goals from Viselie Vasa in the 59th and 61st minutes to secure a comfortable victory. The champions received a cash prize of INR 70,000.
While Medziphema United FC took the champions trophy, Outlaws FC bagged the league winner title, and Medziphema United FC finished as the league runner-up.

In individual awards, Mhademo of Outlaws FC won the Golden Glove, and his teammate Thanglenhao bagged the Golden Boot. Viselie Vasa of Medziphema United FC was named the emerging player of the tournament, while Kevisevor Zashümo, also of Medziphema United FC, won the Golden Ball.
Attending the closing ceremony as the guest of honour, Officer on Special Duty (Sports) for the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Roko Angami commended the CDFA for its efforts in promoting football in the district and beyond. He thanked the CDFA for dedicating the trophy in memory of former minister Late Rokonicha.
"Today it is not only about football, competition and winning a trophy. It is also about remembering a life, celebrating a legacy and keeping alive the memories of a person who touched the lives of many," Roko said.
He added that football is a universal language that transcends boundaries. He encouraged the players to play with passion, discipline, respect, and a positive spirit.
He noted that the Department of Youth Resources and Sports has been implementing annual programmes to create opportunities for young athletes through events such as the Baby League, Grassroot Football Tournament, Zonal School Pre-Subroto Tournaments, Inter-KIC Tournament, Women’s Futsal League, and State Level School Pre-Subroto Tournament.
He further mentioned that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has developed more than 30 futsal grounds and several artificial turf grounds across the state, with more facilities currently under construction.
