The CPO and KCMT have strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a minor in Medziphema, urging a fair investigation, strict enforcement of the POCSO Act, and justice for the survivor.
DIMAPUR — The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO), Medziphema Circle, Chakhroma Students' Union (CSU) and the Kuki Community Medziphema Town (KCMT) have strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a minor by Pauminlun Gangte, a retired Army personnel and son of Lenthang Gangte of Maova village.
The alleged incident took place on July 7 at Tsiepuoru Colony (Ward-9), Medziphema town.
In a condemnation note, the CPO described the incident as a cruel and inhuman crime that constitutes a grave violation of the rights, dignity, and innocence of a child, adding that such acts have no place in a civilised society.
The organisation called upon law enforcement agencies and the concerned authorities to conduct a prompt, impartial, and thorough investigation and ensure that the accused is held accountable in accordance with the law.
"Justice should be delivered without unnecessary delay," the CPO stated.
It also urged the authorities to provide the survivor with appropriate medical care, psychological counselling, and protection throughout the legal process.

In a statement, the CSU described the incident as deeply shocking and said crimes of a sexual nature against children are among the gravest violations of human dignity and fundamental rights.
It stated that such offences inflict severe physical and psychological trauma on survivors while undermining the sense of safety within society.
The CSU welcomed the prompt action of the police in arresting the accused and expressed confidence that the investigation would be conducted in a fair, impartial and time-bound manner. It urged the authorities to pursue the case diligently and ensure justice for the minor survivor in accordance with the law.
The CSU also appreciated the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and other concerned officials for their prompt intervention and efforts to safeguard the rights and welfare of the minor survivor.
In a separate statement, the Kuki Community Medziphema Town (KCMT) resolved that a person accused of committing such an offence has no place within the community or the colony.
The KCMT further appealed to the district administration and the competent authorities to strictly enforce the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and ensure that the accused is dealt with in accordance with the law.
