Kohima, May 15 (EMN): Medical XI today defeated Amur Falcon 3-2 at the ongoing Morning Premier League at the Kohima local ground.
Amur Falcon FC who has beaten the league leaders All Blacks last Friday made a comeback in the second half but failed to capitalise as they were a goal short at the end of the match.
Kekhrie found the net for Medical XI through an assist from Vinyu in the 17th minute. Neiphre added another goal in the 36th minute to end the first half with 2-0.
In the second half, Mele with his effort spare the blushes of Amur Falcon in 52nd minute by scoring a goal, however, Vinyu of Medical XI converted a penalty in the 60th minute. Seyie made it two goals for Amur Falcon in the 79th minute but Medical XI defended the score line till the last minute to win the match.
With the win, Medical XI temporarily moved to the 2nd place with 22 points and above Power Comm (21 points) who will be facing MRH FC on Tuesday. Amur Falcon on the other side remained in the fourth place but a win for MRH FC or Morung United will leapfrog above them at the Morning Premier League table.
