Kohima, June 9 (EMN): Medical XI defeated Morning FC 3-2 at Kohima local ground on Friday morning and moved to top of the Morning Premier League points table.
With the win, Medical XI leads the standings for the first time since the opening rounds with 31 points of the Morning Premier League table and two points ahead of Power Comm FC and All Blacks after the match ended in a draw on Monday morning. Morning FC remained in 8th place with 15 points.
During the match, Dikwa of Morning FC scored the first goal in the 11th minute. Medical pulled back three goals in the 11th minute with Kekrie scoring a brace in 20th and 28th minute assisted by Bubu and Vinyu and Theja made it 3-1 in the 31st minute for Medical XI to lead the scoreline in the first half.
Morning FC found the lifeline when Shirep scored a late goal in the 85th minute but Medical XI managed to hold on till the end of the match for a win.
