DIMAPUR — A three-day medical camp in Kohima, organised by Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, in partnership with the Government of Nagaland, concluded on June 27.

Over 400 individuals availed health check-ups at the multi-specialty medical camp in Kohima, a collaborative effort between the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland Police, and Medanta, an update stated.

The medical camp was organised subsequent to Medanta signing an MoU with the Nagaland government for accreditation to the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS).

The three-day medical camp was marked by the presence of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, Director of Industries & Commerce P Tokugha Sema and DGP Nagaland, on the first, second and third day, respectively.

Speaking about the medical camp, Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, said quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.

“North East India is a region that has long been underserved with respect to health care services. Expanding quality healthcare to India’s underserved populations is not just a strategic objective—it is a moral imperative.

By predicting a person’s risk for specific diseases and creating treatments based on their unique risk profile, we can better manage health. Cancers are often diagnosed at later stages,” he shared.

On June 25, the medical camp was held at IDAN's Capital Convention Centre in Kohima, catering to IDAN employees, members, and affiliated sports associations. Speaker Sharingain Longkumer thanked the Medanta team, highlighting Nagaland's healthcare challenges and emphasising cancer awareness.

Longkumer expressed his commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and promoting preventive care awareness among Nagas, offering his support for bringing quality healthcare to all.

The camp's second leg was held at the Directorate of Industries and Commerce Office on June 26, catering to employees of the directorate and affiliated public sector enterprises. Director P Tokugha Sema inaugurated the session, encouraging employees to undergo health check-ups.

On the final day, the medical camp was held at Nagaland Police Headquarters, offering health services to police personnel.

DGP Rupin Sharma inaugurated the session, expressing interest in a future partnership with Medanta to provide quality healthcare to 25,000 police staff.
