Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): District orientation workshop for Education & ICDS was conducted on at CMO, Conference Hall Tuensang on July 17 2018. Resource person for the workshop, Dr Danish WHO (RRT), highlighted on the four important topics of Organizing Vaccination Session Sites viz. Injection Safety & Waste management on MR campaign, measles-rubella country update, planning for school based MR campaign and Micro planning. Chief Medical Officer Tuensang Dr.T.Pangjung Sangtam, welcome the participants and highlighted the introduction & objectives of workshop. Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton DPO, UIP & RCH, briefed the participants about the basic strategy and operation plan for MR-Campaign and FAQ on ‘MR Vaccination Campaign’ including Routine Immunization and while Dr. Mukamchem Yim MO RBSK-MHT spoke on the topic based on MR campaign, Advocacy communication and social mobilization. CMO Tuensang Dr T Pangjung Sangtam, welcome the participants and highlighted the introduction and objectives of workshop, informed a press release received here today. Block Task Force meeting on Immunization- Measles – Rubella Campaign held The Block Task Force meeting on Immunization- Measles – Rubella Campaign was held for Peren Block and Jalukie Block under Peren district on July 17 2018 at their respective ADC Headquarters. A Jalukie block, ADC Jalukie, Tinujongshi, who chaired the programme, highlighted the plans in implementation of the MR campaign and stressed on the importance of the roles of the stakeholders. While cautioning about misconceptions and negativity might arise in such cases, he pointed out that it is the responsibility of the members present to stay alert and clear the negative implications. Dr. Yetovi, Senior Medical Officer CHC Jalukie and Dr. Albert, MO CHC Jalukie also spoke at the programme and enlightened the gathering about disease and also the roles and responsibilities of the of the stakeholders while dealing with the disease. At Peren Block the meeting was attended by officials of the Chief Medical Office, NGO’s, social bodies, associations, Club’s and Ward chairman. ADC Peren, Sarita Yadav appreciated the medical department for their efforts and initiatives, and requested all the stakeholders to create intensive awareness for the success for the campaign. She highlighted on the importance of immunization, saying that every child should be immunized because basing on their immunization card; a child will be given admission in the school or inorder to get passport /Visa’s for one’s own personal or business matters. Addressing the gathering Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir, DPO UIP/RCH highlighted about the overall Measles- Rubella Campaign. She said that measles is a highly infectious disease that mostly affects the children and pregnant women which can cause harm to the unborn child leading to premature delivery or still birth. Saying that there is no specific treatment, she said that it can be prevented with the MR vaccines. Thus the campaign targets 100% vaccination of all the children from 9 months till 15 years of age.
