MDLSA organises awareness programme in Mokokchung

- MOKOKCHUNG — The
Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA), as part of the National
Legal Services Authority (NLSA) common action plan, organised an awareness
programme in Mokokchung on Monday.
- The event focused on the NALSA (Victims of Trafficking and
Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, which was launched in 2015.
- On the occasion, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of
the MDLSA, Julian Sitlhou, sensitised attendees to the provisions of the
scheme. Awareness was also raised about the NALSA Child-Friendly Legal Services
Scheme, introduced in 2024.
- She emphasised the establishment of legal services units for
children (LSUC) in every district, aiming to provide accessible and supportive
legal services to children. She highlighted the LSUC's role in assisting child
victims of crimes and trafficking.
- The awareness programme included an interactive session
where stakeholders discussed and addressed concerns related to these schemes.
Various organisations participated in the event, including Child Helpline
Mokokchung, the District Child Protection Unit, Women Police, Sakhi One Stop
Centre, and the Child Welfare Committee.
- This initiative is MDLSA's commitment to promoting awareness
and supporting vulnerable groups, particularly children and victims of
trafficking, said an MDLSA official.
