Mokokchung, Oct. 22 (EMN): Defending Champions Zonipang SA and SSS Yellow booked their semi-final berth after defeating their opponent in their respective quarter-final clashes in the on-going MDFA Trophy 2018, at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Mon. Oct. 22.
Zonipang were not at their best against new entrant FC Young Boys today, however, they upset the opponent 2-1 in the first quarter-final clash. Salu Kulim scoring two goals in the second half send off FC Young Boys out of the tournament.
The new entrant could only manage a consolation goal even though they played some good football.
Salu Kulim scoring the first goal in the 57th minutes, but, conceding a goal did not weather-out the Young Boys, they put a tough challenged and equalised in the 80th minute by Bendangmongba.
The equalising goal from Young Boys turned out to be a serious threat for Zonipang. However, victory came within inches for Zonipang when Salu Kulim scored his second goal just two minutes after the equalising goal from Young Boys, ending the game 2-1.
SSS Yellow and SSS Blue, clashed in the second quarter-final match. The Senior SSS Yellow proved their might and skills by trashing the younger team 5-0. The game was dominated by SSS Yellow with Maongkaba scoring the first two goals in the 2nd and 34th minute of the game.
Osen secured a hat-trick by scoring in the 47th, 60th and 76th minute. Chubameren was awarded a yellow card in the 70th minute which resulted in a penalty.
