Mokokchung, Oct. 20 (EMN): SSS Blue and Grand Elites secured their berth for the quarter-finals while NU Lumami beat Unicorn FC in the last league matches of the MDFA Trophy 2018 at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Sat. Oct. 20
In a one-sided matched between NU Lumami and Unicorn FC the game ended 7-0 in favour of Lumami. Tongpangmeren scored five goals for the team in the 4th, 32nd, 55th, 56th and 70th minutes. The other two goals were scored by Chetsho and Imlimatsung in the 18th and 39th minute. Both the teams, however, failed to qualify for the quarter-finals from Pool D because of their losses in their previous matches.
The second match between SSS Blue and Grand Elite was a fight to determine the winner of Pool D. Both the two qualifying teams played some real football with the young SSS Blue team fighting all through the game though they lost 2-5 against the well set-up Grand Elite.
The five goals for Grand Elite came from L.Temjen (2nd minute), Athing (9th minute), Tongpangnukdang (28th minute), Imsuwapang (38th minute), and Kekhrie (71st minute). The two goals from SSS Blue came from Chungponglemba and Angangba in the 41st and 49th minute.
Grand Elite will face Telongjem FC and SSS Blue will face SSS yellow in the quarter-final matches.
