Mokokchung, July 2: A 10-day football coaching clinic for under-14 Junior Boys was conducted by Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) from June 23 to July 2 at Imkongmeren Sports complex.
The coaching clinic saw a huge turn-out of 76 players from around Mokokchung district. The participants were imparted with technical and other football related classes along with field practice by well known trainers under MDFA.
Out of the 76 players, 22 were selected to represent MDFA under-14 Junior Boys. Participants were also given certificates upon completion of the coaching camps by MDFA.The secretary of MDFA, Sunep said that the kids at the coaching clinic were skilled and full of passion for the game which inspired the officials and trainers to put more efforts while training them. “If in future same enthusiasm and zeal to learn about the game continues without going off track then they might achieve what we could not achieve… they can even represent at state and national level,” Sunep added. He also said that such coaching clinics should be continued as a trend to mould them.
“It is amazing that some of the kids came to the coaching who wants to be goalkeepers and learn more about goalkeeping, where most of the kids want to be strikers to score goals,” an MDFA official said.
