Mokokchung, Dec. 11: The fourth and the last exhibition-cum-promotional match initiated by the Mokokchung District Cricket Association under the theme “Instilling aspirations” was played between MDCA XI and ADC Tuli XI at Don Bosco School Ground, Tuli on Saturday.
It was a low scoring and evenly contested encounter, lacking any excitement.
MDCA XI emerged the winner defeating ADC Tuli XI by 4 wickets.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, ADC XI got off to a steady start but in the process couldn’t capitalize much on the power playovers. They also lost their opener early but their middle order batsman Rongsenwati (24 runs) and Chungshi (26 runs) steadied the inning and later displayed some big hitting over the boundaries.
ADC IX Tuli managed to score 93 runs losing all wickets in the 20 overs. For MDCA XI, Sachin took 3/31 in four overs while Ato Chang chipped in with 2/10 in 4 0vers.MDCA XI’s run chase started in a very disastrous manner losing their openers easily. At one stage, they were struggling at 17 for 4 with all their top order batsmen out. Then Aloto (32 runs) and Sadammeren ( 14 runs) built a good partnership to take MDCA XI to victory in the 16th over.
Lanu of Tuli ADC XI was the pick of the bowler with 2 for 12 in 4 overs while Sungkum also took 2 wickets. Aloto of MDCA IX was named the Man of the Match for his all-round performance with both bat and ball.
