Mokokchung, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) is grateful to the Power department for their positive consideration to install a power line along the arterial road of Mokokchung town, the AM Road and IM road.
The group issued a press release requesting the PWD (NH), Urban Development department, the Mokokchung Municipal Council and all other lines departments, among others to cooperate with the power department on this matter.
The MCCI stated that in Mokokchung town, most commercial and low-level industrial activities are concentrated along the NH2 passing through the heart of the town. It lamented that in the absence of any HT (11KV) line along the main town road, the entire power requirement for domestic, commercial and LT industrial purposes are solely dependent on the existing public distribution transformers.
As a result of this, most of the transformers get overloaded/burdened and are unable to cater the required power demand for the business activities/establishments and domestic supply – the symptoms of which are low voltage and power outages, the MCCI stated.
The proposed line will also usher in a ‘cleaner skyline for the beautification of the town as the existing cobweb-like LT lines across the roads can also be shifted to the new line,’ the MCCI stated.
