Dimapur, May 15: Mon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has resolved not to allow any kind of collection (extortion/ demand/ taxation) from shops within Mon town and cautioned of stern action as per the law against anyone indulging such activities.
The resolution to this effect was taken during the annual general meeting of the Mon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on May 14 at Council Hall, Mon Headquarter with its working president, Wanglong Konyak as sessional chairman and the general secretary, Longkham Konyak, as sessional secretary.
The house also resolved that all business establishments within Mon town should be registered with MCCI by paying the annual membership fees. The house resolved that expired goods would not be allowed to sell in the market and decided to take serious action against anybody found indulging in such activities.
It also decided to hold an annual meeting every year and to conduct annual audit on or before annual general meeting.
Further, it warned of serious action against any members found indulging in illegal and other anti social activities etc.
The meeting began with invocation prayer said by its treasurer Achuh Konyak, followed by keynote address delivered by its president Howing, and presentation of general report of by its general secretary (Admn) Unok SN.
More than thousands members comprising civil society, MTSU, Wards leaders, Timber Union, Butcher Union, intellectuals and NGOs leaders attended the meeting. The programme was ended with benediction prayer said by Jeilei Konyak, member of Butchers’ Union.
